Many military veterans have accelerated their transitions by attending the Ohio State MBA. Click their photos to learn more about why they decided to pursue an MBA, how they chose OSU, and what they’re doing now!
Why an MBA? “As I was planning to leave the military, I knew that my odds of not only securing a career that I was actually passionate about and the highest possible salary would increase dramatically if I pursued an MBA at a top-tier program.”
Why Ohio State? “Fisher provided a fantastic bridge from the military allowing me to apply the skills I learned in a business setting and the fantastic education gave me all the tools I need for a successful career. With the top grade companies that recruit from Fisher I was able to start my post-military career exactly where I wanted – In a great company looking for people to advance.”

Why an MBA? “After 7 years in the Army, I knew that I wanted to continue leadingteams and working with people, but I knew very little about the business world. I needed to learn both the advanced concepts and the basic skills that would make me more marketable to employers and an MBA seemed like the right next step.”
Why Ohio State? “When I started interviewing with MBA programs, I was unapologetic about the fact that I had no specific plan for what I wanted to do after graduation. Transitioning out of the military isn’t easy and no one at Fisher ever treated my lack of a plan as a liability. Instead, it felt like the program was designed to help me figure it all out. From career services to classroom instruction to financial aid, it was as if the entire place was in my corner, giving me the resources and support to find a career that I could excel in and be passionate about. Today I work at Google and I’m excited to come to work every day and do cool stuff that matters. In 2011, I showed up for first-year orientation a month after returning from Afghanistan; I never could have imagined that this is where I’d be 6 years later. I’m here because Fisher believed in me, honored my service and gave me the knowledge, the opportunities and the time to forge my own unique path.”

Why an MBA? “There is no better proving ground or foundation of leadership than service in the U.S. Military. Very early in our careers, military members are placed in some of the most challenging, leadership intensive situations possible. However, when transitioning it can be difficult to translate how military leadership can be applied to business. By pursuing my MBA from a top business school, it provided the bridge necessary to pair my leadership and analytical abilities with the business knowledge required to be a leader in Corporate America”
Why Ohio State? “The Ohio State University is one of the largest, top ranked public universities in America, with the Fisher College of Business consistently ranked as one of the top business schools in the world. While small class sizes allowed for personalized attention from faculty, the large network of over 500,000 alumni provided endless networking opportunities. Not only that, but Columbus is the 15th largest city in America located less than 2 hours away via direct flight from all major Midwest and East Coast cities, making it a strategic Midwest hub for top companies to recruit their MBA talent from. Plus, with the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill covering 100% of tuition and fees, along with Ohio State providing numerous other military specific scholarships and support, my out of pocket costs were close to zero. Now, I’m a Director level at a Fortune 100 Financial Services firm and couldn’t be happier with my decision to become a Buckeye.”

Brad co-founded Ustream in 2006 after completing his MBA at the Ohio State University and serving as a US Army officer. He started it as a way to help deployed veterans connect with their friends and family back home.
Ustream quickly became one of the largest live video microbroadcasting websites on the Internet and now provides cloud-based video streaming to 80 million+ visitors per month. In January 2016, the company was acquired by IBM.
